There are tons of scholarships available simply for being black. White people have to work harder for scholarships.

HAHAHAHAHAHA. Welp, Imma just drop this shit right here and maybe one day, your ass will do some research and take a nice helping of STFU.

Caucasian students receive more than three-quarters (76%) of all institutional merit-based scholarship and grant funding, even though they represent less than two-thirds (62%) of the student population. Caucasian students are 40% more likely to win private scholarships than minority students.

Bulgarian protester dies after self-immolation

fuckyeahbalkans:

A protester who set himself on fire last month has died, the second fatality following rallies against high power bills and corruption that have toppled a government.

Giving new impetus to daily demonstrations, which are now in their fourth week, Bulgarians prepared to stage memorial services for Plamen Goranov, a 36-year-old artist who set himself alight at the city hall in the Black Sea port of Varna on 20 February.

Mr Goranov has become a symbol for the hundreds of thousands of protesters.

Massive TRIGGER WARNING

[violence, murder, homophobia, anti-gay violence, hate crime]

casual-isms:

Casual ableism and homophobia is Judge Roger Keen sentencing Jordan Sheard to 3 1/2 years in prison for manslaughter. The story: Jordan gatecrashed the 18th birthday party of Steven Simpson, an openly gay autistic man with learning disabilities, and set fire to his body, which had phrases like ‘I love dick’ and ‘gay boy’ scrawled on it, then ran away. Steven died from 60% burns. Judge Roger Keen referred to what was MURDER as ‘good-natured horseplay’. In the past Roger Keen has sentenced a young man to 23 years for murder, but in this sentencing he acted as if Jordan Sheard, who was 20 and didn’t have learning disabilities, didn’t know that setting someone on fire CAN KILL THEM.

Yeaa, don’t think the “casual” part is quite accurate. But this needs to be seen. I’m so sickened and outraged.

Dear Anti-Choice assholes on my campus:

Here’s a test:

I’m holding a baby in one hand and a petri dish holding a fetus in the other.

I’m going to drop one. You chose which.

If you really truly believe a fetus is the same thing as a baby, it should be impossible for you to decide. You should have to flip a coin, that’s how impossible the decision should be.

Shot in the dark, you saved the baby.

Because you’re aware there’s a difference.

Now admit it

Read In Between The Lines, There Was An Uprising In Guantanamo Bay Yesterday
After a mass hunger strike by 44+ of the 166 detainees that started Feb. 6th and years of peaceful resistance, prisoners at Guantanamo Bay have had enough of the torture, indefinite detention and horrid conditions. The lawyers of the inmates insist that the hunger strike in more widespread and nearly every person at the prison is refusing to eat.
Inmates covered security camera’s and windows and used broomsticks, mop handles and makeshift batons made up of tape and water bottles to clash with guards.
The violence erupted during an early morning raid at Camp 6 when guards attempted to end communal living and place all inmates in single cells. According to military officials, guards shot 4 ‘non lethal’ weapons at the inmates, 1 of which was injured. Though this should be taken with a grain a salt considering that Guantanamo Bay is where the military is known to torture inmates.
It should also be noted that 87 of the prisoners at Gitmo are cleared for release and 46 other prisoners cannot be prosecuted for a ‘lack of evidence’ according to the U.S. government. In other words, over 80% of the inmates being held at Guantanamo Bay would otherwise be free.
In January of 2013, Obama signed the NDAA 2013 which allows him to indefinitely detain American citizens without charge or trial, which is literally contradicts the constitution, and banned the government from closing Guantanamo Bay.

Social Justice Trading Cards.

So my friends and I got so sick of calling each other out and slowing down conversations that we made these cards. Now if someone says something shitty, just pull a flag on the play, throw up a card, they check themselves, and we all move on.

Alternatively, turn it into a drinking game. Every time one of these comes up in conversation, take a shot. When all the cards are on the table, weep for humanity.

This is awesome! This could be useful for activist organizing meetings and discussions as well.

Lolol.

Omg yess to this

I like the “nigga calm down” one.

Started cackling at “calm down and get an okcupid profile.”

This is awesome. This should be required viewing for every damn guy in this city. I’m thinking before they’re allowed to walk down the street.

LOL. But SERIOUSLY though. So creepy when people refer to Lolita as a “love story”.
